Berg Injury Lawyers Safe AND Sober Program

All too often, Alameda-based injury lawyer William Berg witnesses firsthand the pain and heartache suffered by those who have lost a loved one in an alcohol-related crash. To assist in the fight against drunk driving, Berg Injury Lawyers designed and implemented the law firm's Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program.  

New Year’s Eve
The New Year’s Eve Safe and Sober Free Ride Home program provided 81 free cab rides for holiday revelers who didn’t have safe ways to get home. The program began on December 31 at 8 p.m. and ran through 4 a.m. January 1.

St. Patrick’s Day
The Safe and Sober Free Ride Home for St. Patrick’s Day 2008 gave 124 free cab rides home to residents in Alameda, Oakland, and Berkeley. The program ran for 12 hours beginning at 3 p.m. March 17 and offered complimentary cab rides to people who had been drinking or who felt they didn’t have a safe way to get home.

Cinco de Mayo
Berg Injury Lawyers provided 298 free cab rides home during Cinco de Mayo festivities. The program, which began at 3 p.m. on May 5, ran for 12 hours and provided safe rides home for local residents. Rides were provided to an individual’s residence—not to other drinking locations.

Program Background
Launched in the city of Alameda on St. Patrick's Day 2004 and expanded to include Oakland over Memorial Day weekend and subsequent holidays, Berg Injury Lawyers Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program seeks to raise community awareness of the dangers of drunk driving and to encourage individuals to make responsible choices by providing a safe transportation alternative on many of the traditionally high alcohol consumption holidays. Cab rides are made available within the cities of Alameda and Oakland to area residents who otherwise might attempt to drive home after drinking. Rides are provided to an individual's residence, not other drinking locations. On New Year's weekend 2004/05 in addition to Alameda and Oakland, the program was offered for the first time in Berkeley.
