All too often, Alameda-based injury lawyer William Berg witnesses firsthand the pain and heartache suffered by those who have lost a loved one in an alcohol-related crash. To assist in the fight against drunk driving, Berg Injury Lawyers designed and implemented the law firm's Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program.
St. Patrick's Day 2012
Our Safe and Sober program will be held on Saturday, March 17 from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. Call one of the following cab companies and tell them the ride is on Berg Injury Lawyers. Please remember, there's a $35 cap on all rides home, and patrons are responsible for costs more than $35.
Alameda, Oakland & Berkeley
Call Veterans Cab at (800) 281-4488. Any fare exceeding $35 must be paid in cash.
San Francisco
Call Luxor Cab at (415) 282-4141.
Sacramento
Call Yellow Cab Company of Sacramento at (916) 444-2222. Patrons must be picked up at a participating restaurant, hotel, or bar within Downtown Sacramento to qualify for a free ride.
New Year's Eve 2011
Our New Year's Eve Safe and Sober program was another huge success! With the help of our participating cab companies, we provided hundreds of safe rides home for adults in San Francisco, Alameda, Oakland, Berkeley, and Sacramento.
Halloween 2011
The Halloween Safe and Sober program provided 270 rides to area residents in Northern California.
Cinco de Mayo 2011
We had another successful Safe and Sober program and are pleased to report that we paid for 391 safe rides home on Cinco de Mayo.
St. Patrick’s Day 2011
Thanks to everyone who helped make St. Patty’s a success. We covered the cost for more than 300 rides!

Program Background
Launched in the city of Alameda on St. Patrick's Day 2004 and expanded to include Oakland over Memorial Day weekend and subsequent holidays, Berg Injury Lawyers Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program seeks to raise community awareness of the dangers of drunk driving and to encourage individuals to make responsible choices by providing a safe transportation alternative on many of the traditionally high alcohol consumption holidays. Cab rides are made available within the cities of Alameda and Oakland to area residents who otherwise might attempt to drive home after drinking. Rides are provided to an individual's residence, not other drinking locations. On New Year's weekend 2004/05 in addition to Alameda and Oakland, the program was offered for the first time in Berkeley.
