Medicaid managed healthcare in California increases chance of neonatal death, low birth weight

A study in the Review of Economics and Statistics has found that Medicaid in California has “reduced the quality of prenatal care for pregnant women and increased the risk of low birth weight, premature birth, and neonatal death.” California birth injuries and hospital care for mother are extremely important issues, and this study shows large declines in the quality of care for Medicaid mothers.
