The California fire, known as the Zaca Fire in Santa Barbara, has devoured almost 100,000 acres. The fire started when sparks from a ranch laborer’s grinder caught ablaze and rapidly spread to the surrounding forest.
The tremendous cost of fighting this California fire is the result of the heavy use of aircraft in combating the inferno. Thankfully, not a single California burn injury has been reported, but the man responsible for starting the fire may not feel the same, as he will be presented with the final bill (already up to $54 million) when the fire is finally put out.
