Firefighter suffers San Francisco burn injury; 48 left homeless

The San Francisco Chronicle reports an early-morning San Francisco fire has left 48 people homeless. The two-alarm fire in an apartment complex started early on New Year’s Day.

Several residents suffered minor fire injuries, mostly related to smoke inhalation. One firefighter suffered a San Francisco burn injury to his hand in the blaze.

The cause of the San Francisco fire is still under investigation. Crews had been in the building earlier in the day doing electrical work. The landlord thought a tenant may have been using a candle for light since the power was out, which could be another possible cause of the San Francisco fire.
