Alameda, Calif., December 27, 2004 — While law enforcement units gear up to man holiday roadblocks and increase roving patrols to spot erratic drivers on local roadways, Berg Injury Lawyers will assist in the fight against drunk driving in Alameda, Oakland and now Berkeley by again offering the law firm’s “Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home” program.
Berg Injury Lawyers will team up with Veterans Cab and Yellow Cab of Alameda to provide a free transportation alternative for New Year’s revelers. Cab rides are made available within the cities of Alameda, Oakland, and Berkeley to area residents who otherwise might attempt to drive home after drinking. Rides are provided to an individual’s residence, not other drinking locations. To request a free cab ride home, an individual can call Yellow Cab of Alameda or Veterans Cab at (800) 281- 4488 and tell them Berg Injury Lawyers is paying for their safe ride home.
Berg Injury Lawyers Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program will be available starting at 3 pm, Friday, December 31, 2004, running through midnight, Saturday, January 1, 2005.
Launched in the city of Alameda on St. Patrick’s Day 2004 and expanded to include Oakland over Memorial Day weekend and subsequent holidays, the Berg Injury Lawyers Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program makes its Berkeley debut over the New Year’s weekend 2004/05. The program seeks to raise community awareness of the dangers of drunk driving and to encourage individuals to make responsible choices by providing a safe transportation alternative on many of the traditionally high alcohol consumption holidays. To date in 2004, Berg Injury Lawyers has been successful in reducing the number of alcohol-related deaths and injuries in the cities of Alameda and Oakland by providing over 160 free cab rides home.
Recently Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Alameda County honored the Berg Injury Lawyers Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program with a community recognition award, spotlighting the law firm’s efforts to crack down on drunk driving.
