DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE THIS LABOR DAY WEEKEND
LOCAL LAW FIRM OFFERS SAFE TRANSPORTATION ALTERNATIVE

Berg Injury Lawyers to Provide "Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home"
in Alameda and Oakland

Alameda, Calif., August 31, 2004 — Designating a sober driver has never been easier. To assist in the fight against drunk driving in Alameda and Oakland this Labor Day weekend, Berg Injury Lawyers will again offer the law firm’s “Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home” program. Labor Day weekend is now one of the most dangerous and deadly holidays on roadways in California and across the nation. According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), in 2002 close to 56 percent of Labor Day weekend traffic fatalities involved alcohol.

Berg Injury Lawyers will team up with Veterans Cab and Yellow Cab of Alameda to provide a free transportation alternative for partygoers. Cab rides are made available within the cities of Alameda and Oakland to area residents who otherwise might attempt to drive home after drinking. Rides are provided to an individual’s residence, not other drinking locations. To request a free cab ride home, an individual can call Yellow Cab of Alameda or Veterans Cab at (800) 281-4488 and tell them Berg Injury Lawyers is paying for their sober ride home.

Berg Injury Lawyers Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program will be available over the entire Labor Day holiday weekend—running from 8 pm, Friday, September 3–midnight, Monday, September 6, 2004.

Launched in the city of Alameda on St. Patrick’s Day 2004 and expanded to include Oakland over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, Berg Injury Lawyers Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program seeks to raise community awareness of the dangers of drunk driving and to encourage individuals to make responsible choices by providing a safe transportation alternative on the traditionally high alcohol consumption holidays. Over Memorial Day weekend 2004, Berg Injury Lawyers was successful in reducing the number of alcohol-related deaths and injuries in the cities of Alameda and Oakland by providing 37 free cab rides home. The program is recognized by the Alameda County chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving in this important community-based endeavor.

“If you plan to drink this Labor Day weekend, don’t drive. A simple phone call is all it takes to obtain a sober ride home,” says William Berg, founder and principle of Berg Injury Lawyers. “We believe that drunk driving is no accident and warn that our law firm will aggressively pursue suit against any drunk driver who harms an innocent victim this Labor Day holiday weekend or any other day of the year.”
