CELEBRATE A SPECTACULAR JULY FOURTH WEEKEND
DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE
PLAN TO CALL A CAB – IT’S ON BERG INJURY LAWYERS

Local Law Firm To Provide “Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home”
in Alameda, Oakland and Berkeley

Alameda, Calif., June29, 2005 — The Fourth of July is our nation’s birthday and a day reserved for fun involving fireworks, parades, BBQs and pool parties. Many partygoers will consume alcohol and that means a high-risk holiday weekend on area roadways. In fact, statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reveal that the Fourth of July holiday period has the highest incidence of alcohol-related crashes and fatalities of the entire year. In 2003, of the 514 traffic fatalities that occurred across the country on and around the Fourth of July almost 47 percent involved an impaired driver with a blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) level of 0.08 grams per deciliter or higher. All states prohibit operating a motor vehicle with a BAC of 0.08 or above (1).

Berg Injury Lawyers does not want drunk driving to impact any celebration. To help prevent impaired driving, Berg Injury Lawyers announces that the law firm's “Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home” program will be available in the cities of Alameda, Oakland and Berkeley from 8 pm, Friday, July 1 through 11:30 pm, Monday, July 4, 2005.

To request a free cab ride home, an individual can call Yellow Cab of Alameda or Veterans Cab at (800) 281- 4488 and tell them Berg Injury Lawyers is paying for their safe ride home. Cab rides are made available within the cities of Alameda, Oakland and Berkeley to area residents who otherwise might attempt to drive home after drinking. Rides are provided to an individual’s residence, not other drinking locations.

“Drive responsibly this July Fourth weekend or simply call a cab and tell them Berg Injury Lawyers is picking up the tab,” says William Berg, founder and principal of Berg Injury Lawyers. “Our Safe and Sober program makes is easy to obtain a free ride home. Drunk driving is no accident; it is a choice and is the most frequently committed crime in our country (2). Our law firm will aggressively pursue suit against any drunk driver who harms an innocent victim this July Fourth or any other day of the year.”

The Berg Injury Lawyers Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride home program is an ongoing commitment that seeks to raise community awareness of the dangers of drunk driving and to encourage individuals to make responsible choices by providing a safe transportation alternative on many of the traditionally high alcohol consumption holidays.

This is the second year Berg Injury Lawyers has offered the law firm’s Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program. Launched in the city of Alameda on St. Patrick’s Day 2004 and expanded to include Oakland over Memorial Day weekend and subsequent holidays, the Berg Injury Lawyers Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program made its Berkeley debut over New Year’s weekend 2004/05. The Berg Injury Lawyers program provided over 250 cab rides home in 2004, and Mother’s Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Alameda County honored the program with a community recognition award, spotlighting the law firm’s efforts to combat drunk driving.
